The Critical Elements, Skills & Strategies of Leadership (pdf)
Richmond, KY • October 13 - 15, 2010

Many leaders are placed in positions of power due to political connections, formal education, personal charisma, vocational experience, and/or socio-economic status. Although these criteria may have a correlation with leadership ability, they often leave out the fundamental criterion for being a good leader: a person's personal characteristics as a human being. A leader's human inadequacies may result in leadership failure. Leaders should be role models for how human beings (1) socialize, (2) emotionalize, (3) personalize, (4) moralize, (5) intellectualize, and maintain their (6) physical wellbeing while acting as a leader in the lives of others. By providing an experiential educational experience that helps current and potential leaders develop knowledge and abilities in these 6 competencies of human functioning, this training seminar is different from the typical leadership-by-lecture training that focuses on leadership theories, strategies, styles, and "the rules". Instead, it provides a curriculum that addresses personal development in the 6 competencies, emphasizing a "human technology" approach versus a "human knowledge" approach. The mission of this training focuses on providing the trainee with both the concepts and the techniques, or skills, for being a humane leader.

Officer Down Rescue (pdf)
Washoe County, NV • October 7, 2010

The minutes following a call for help from an officer who has been seriously or gravely injured are critical. Unfortunately we need to be prepared for these types of incidents that occur in both training and a working environment.

Do you have the skills and mindset to help when called upon? Have you trained with your co-workers on what to do? Do you know the list of resources that are available for you to use and will you know how to use them when the time comes? Do you practice techniques that will help you save the life of the person you are trying to rescue?

The time for having a plan is now. You must be mentally, physically and psychologically ready to win. Remember, the only purpose of fighting is to win.
