Sheriff's Department learns new crash software

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department is among the first police agencies to be trained for updated software used for crash reports.

BCS Cpl. Leon Golladay attended training Thursday with the Indiana State Police in Indianapolis, along with personnel from the Avon Police Department.

They were learning about a new version of ARIES, Automated Reporting Information Exchange System, software that came into use in 2005 but has been updated numerous times since.

The latest update had input from the Traffic Records Coordinating Committee, members of which include ISP, the Indiana Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Department of Natural Resources, Bureau of Motor Vehicles, and more agencies.
