A gentle introduction to Radio Over IP, explaining what it is and how Radio over IP can be used to connect radios, simply and cost-effectively. It will describe some real-world applications for users of radio systems both small and large, as well as explain both the benefits and issues of Radio over IP technology.


Paul Whitfield has more than 30 years of experience in developing embedded software across several industries, including rail, mining, power, banking, and communications.

Paul was instrumental in developing Radio over IP technology more than 15 years ago, which was among the first in the world to be commercialized for mission-critical and other applications. He remains a thought leader in Radio over IP technology and continues to develop groundbreaking communications solutions.

Over the years his ingenuity has shaped a number of radio & communications products to world-class standards, including as Team Leader Embedded Development for Omnitronics Radio over IP products and Digital Radio Interfaces.
