The Prison Litigation Reform Act (PLRA) was passed by Congress in 1996 in an attempt to limit the large number of frivolous cases brought by inmates in federal courts:  Inmates must exhaust their administrative remedies (the jail’s grievance system ) prior to filing a lawsuit in federal court.  This webinar will review the impact of the PLRA on correctional litigation, the significance of a sound grievance procedure and the importance of the response to the inmate.
