US sheriffs offer solidarity, support to Ukraine

The group representing over 3,000 U.S. sheriffs has reached out to Ukraine’s ambassador in Washington to offer support and solidarity against the Russian military invasion and what they describe as President Vladimir Putin’s bid to put the old Soviet empire together.

In a letter to Ambassador Oksana Markarova, National Sheriffs’ Association President Vernon Stanforth wrote, “On behalf of the people that elected us we convey to you our solidarity and commitment to support you and your leaders with our prayers and moral support during this most difficult time.”

He added, “Your future and that of your children and fellow citizens are under an unprovoked attack. Your freedom and liberty are under siege by a tyrant, not a country, who is committed to rebuilding a long-ago lost empire.”
