'Loved and admired' Cambria County sheriff's deputy dies from COVID-19 complications

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — The Cambria County Sheriff’s office is mourning the loss of one of its deputies.

County officials say 79-year-old Deputy Sheriff John “Sonny” Kuhar passed away Saturday from complications related to COVID-19.

Kuhar had been employed with the sheriff’s office since 1987 and had served in law enforcement for 60 years.

Those with the sheriff’s office say Deputy Kuhar was loved and admired.

The Cambria County Courthouse entrance will be illuminated in blue Monday and Tuesday night in honor of Deputy Kuhar.
