AMERICAN SHERIFF ALLIANCE CALLS TO SECURE THE NATION’S BORDERS

AMERICAN SHERIFF ALLIANCE CALLS ON STATE LEADERSHIP TO SECURE THE NATION’S BORDERS

Leadership from the nation’s law enforcement associations demand attention to all borders amidst increases in northern border activity

Last week, the American Sheriff Alliance met and examined the growing concerns of illegal immigration into the United States of America and how it is contributing to the serious national security risks to our nation. Sheriffs representing the Southwest Border Sheriffs’ Coalition, the Texas Border Sheriff’s Coalition, the Major County Sheriffs of America, the National Sheriffs’ Association, and the Western States Sheriffs’ Association, met in El Paso, Texas, and reviewed the ongoing issues at America’s borders.

The respective associations recognized the tremendous efforts already taking place by state leadership, county government, and law enforcement in Texas and Arizona in passing legislation that holds illegal immigrants accountable for criminal activity. The Alliance continues to recognize the heroic efforts of U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents and their commitment to the mission of protecting our nation’s borders and identifying threats from those entering the United States from over 165 foreign countries. The Alliance also discussed the significant and alarming increases in illegal immigrant crossings on the northern border.
