Broome County sheriff’s deputy thanks training for quick thinking that potentially saved lives

Law enforcement put their lives on the line every day protecting our community, but for one Broome County sheriff’s deputy, that saying hit a little closer to home after a scary situation.

Deputy Derek Linebaugh has been with the sheriff’s office for two years, and in that time has seen his fair share of crazy situations, but a near head-on collision on Interstate 81 is enough to make anyone stop and think.

Deputy Linebaugh said he was responding to a car that hit a deer Saturday when he saw headlights pointed straight at him.
