CTOM honors oldest, longest serving deputy

“All the major players in there have ties to Johnson County,” Murdoch said. “Including the private collection of [former Texas Ranger Clint Peoples] who was also a part owner of the Liberty Hotel at one time.”

Pretty much everyone showcased in the museum was a Texas Ranger, Murdoch said.

“With the exception of one gentleman,” Murdoch said. “And that one gentleman takes up the majority of the room.”

Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Deputy Bill Hardin still reports for duty every Thursday.

Hardin, Johnson County Sheriff Adam King said, is, as far as he knows, both the oldest and longest serving law enforcement officer.

Hardin joined the Fort Worth Police Department in 1947 and has kept his peace officer’s license current ever since.
