Hampden County Sheriff’s Department staff volunteer for neighborhood cleanup
SPRINGFIELD – In an effort to beautify neighborhoods across Springfield, 100 employees from the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department teamed up with Springfield’s Department of Public Works for a day of cleaning.
The cleanup crews stopped by tree belts and sidewalks in the city’s Forest Park, Bay, McKnight and Pine Point, East Springfield and Indian Orchard neighborhoods.
Alexa Scibelli, a correctional counselor and Evelyn Santana, an intake counselor at the sheriff’s department, said they wanted to give back to the community where they both reside.
“It’s great to help out in the community,” said Scibelli. “We just want to do our part.”
