Jerry Billman honored for 55 years serving with Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Department

Jerry Billman, 85, of Stone Creek, served as Captain of the Mounted Sheriff Deputies for 40 years and served in the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Department for 55 years. He was honored at a breakfast held at Dutch Valley Restaurant on Sept. 7 with 50 people in attendance, most of whom worked for the late Sheriff Lou Clark.

Billman began his career as a mounted sheriff deputy in 1964 and retired in 2019. He became captain of the mounted deputies in 1971. He was a dedicated and distinguished leader. Those qualities earned awards for himself and his unit.

“I was surprised. The ‘Lou’s Crew’ (named for the late Lou Clark, former sheriff) meet once a year for breakfast. I always attend,” Billman said.
