Presidential Campaign Letters to NSA
On Monday, September 30th, National Sheriffs' Association (NSA) President Kieran Donahue contacted both the Trump and Harris campaigns, requesting their input on key law enforcement and public safety concerns. NSA sought responses to questions covering mental health in jails, youth crime, the fentanyl crisis, border security, recruitment and retention in law enforcement, and data usage. The full list of questions can be found below.
As a 501(c)(4) organization, NSA emphasizes that this request is for educational purposes only and does not imply endorsement. As of 2:15 p.m. EDT on October 10, 2024, we have received responses from both the Harris/Walz and Trump/Vance campaigns. We are now sharing these responses with all sheriffs and posting them on our website at www.sheriffs.org.
We look forward to continued dialogue with both campaigns as we work to support and inform our membership on these critical issues.
