Attacks Directed Toward Government Facilities and Officials
The United States Secret Service – National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) recently released a study examining 43 attacks directed toward government facilities and officials (for example, military recruitment centers, offices of various government agencies, heads of agencies, judges, etc.) from 2001 to 2013. The report offers considerations for investigations, security practices, and other types of mitigation strategies to reduce the risk of incidents of targeted violence in the community. The study takes a deep look at the execution of the incidents, including tactics and weapons, as well as the offenders’ motivations, planning behaviors, and other critical information.
