NSA and Sheriffs Pay Their Final Respects to Sheriff John Aubrey

On Thursday, October 2, 2025, Jefferson County, KY, Sheriff John Aubrey — Past President of the National Sheriffs’ Association (2014-2015) and longest-serving Sheriff in Jefferson County — was laid to rest. (https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/louisville-ky/john-aubrey-12534653)

NSA Executive Director Jonathan Thompson honored Sheriff Aubrey as “a great man, leader, friend, mentor, sheriff, cop, and soldier.” Kentucky Sheriffs' Association Executive Director Jerry Wagner also spoke at the funeral in tribute to Sheriff Aubrey. NSA Board Members Sheriffs Craig Webre, Greg Champagne, and John Ward were among those who gathered to pay their final respects.

Sheriff Aubrey’s legacy and service will never be forgotten.
